John Coltrane was an artist that had a massive influence on jazz, both mainstream and avant-garde during his lifetime. As a jazz saxophonist and composer, Coltrane helped bring free jazz to the forefront. He subsequently influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant tenor saxophonists in jazz history. Here he performs, “In A Sentimental Mood” which was originally composed by Duke Ellington in 1935. The best known version of the song was recorded by Ellington and Coltrane, which was featured on Duke Ellington and John Coltrane and Coltrane for Lovers. Although, most from this generation may recognize the song from the movie Love Jones. Check it out below. Peace and Love!
